A Family Business

Corner Shoppe was established in 2026 by the sibling duo Kaya Hubbard Perez and Cole Hubbard. They have a shared love of art and delicious food. Kaya and Cole were raised in Seattle, where they grew up surrounded by the skateboarding scene of the PNW. In 1999 their dad contributed to the construction of the Lincoln City Skatepark, continuing the launch of a legacy and friendships that would have their family returning to the Oregon Coast for years to come. Growing up, Kaya and Cole were encouraged to pursue their passions and build careers for themselves that align with their values. With Corner Shoppe they intend to do just that.

Kaya graduated from Sarah Lawrence College in 2020 with a Liberal Arts bachelor's degree, focused on poetic literature and technical theater. In 2021 she fell in love with Alex Perez, who grew up in Lincoln City with mutual connections to the skate scene. When Kaya moved to Lincoln City in 2023, she was captivated by the local art and community. Like many artists, she found herself in the food industry after college and was drawn to the way restaurants run, which is not much different than the theatre productions she had spent so much time on previously. When entrepreneurial opportunities emerged, she reached out to Cole who was living in Portland at the time and working in multiple restaurants. 

Cole has an extensive background in the culinary industry. His first job was in a kitchen, and he has been there ever since. He graduated from an education in culinary and pastry arts in 2023 with a focus on farm-to-table practices. He moved to Lincoln City in 2025 to further his career as a chef and be closer to the coastal community (And his big sister). The chaotic flow of the kitchen is where Cole is most comfortable. As someone who has found other kinds of work environments difficult, Cole hopes to encourage other professionals like him to pursue their passions and make a place for themselves if they cannot find one that already exists. He hopes that Corner Shoppe can be a safe haven for any individual that is looking for something different.
